Scout & Zoe Enjoy A Bath Together

This may have been a one time thing or the wave of the future but Scout and Zoe actually took a bath together. Of course Zoe was game for anything, while Scout took a little cajoling, then once in didn't want to get out.

Marly's Party

Scout had a great time playing with Marly and her friends at Marly's birthday party! Zoe had a wonderful time hanging out with mommy and daddy.

Scout's Pretzel

Well, I've gotten a bit behind in posts so I'm going to take it one day at a time. A few weeks ago, Scout made pretzels at school. I photographed one and posted it here. Word to the wise: Do not eat a pretzel baked by a classroom of 2 year olds...it tastes just how it looks.

Zoe Starts Solids!

Yesterday, Zoe had her first taste of rice cereal. She shoved most of it back out with her tongue, but she did an excellent job overall. Scout helped by wiping Zoe's mouth. We'll be having rice cereal for breakfast and dinner for a week or so, then try some of the other cereals (carefully checking for allergies) before moving on to the exciting world of fruits and vegetables!

Yesterday was a big day for Scout, too. She spent her first nap and overnight sleep without a binky! The morning started with Daddy and Mommy watching Scout agree to no more binky. She then threw both binkies in the garbage, and we all cheered breaking free of the binky.
On to naptime...now that didn't go so well. There was no sleeping involved and it ended with Scout taking a crap on the floor. Oh well. Nighttime went much better, although she woke up crying a few times, but mommy patted her back and waited for her to go to sleep. After 11pm or so, she slept through the night. When Mommy got her up the next morning, she was naked, but diaper and contents intact.

Free to Roam

Scout has been sleeping in her toddler bed for about two weeks now--it was a super easy transition which we were grateful for. With the brace now off at night, we've expected her to wander around her room with this new freedom...and this morning our expectations were met!
After quite a bit of chatter and a few rounds of foot stomping, I (pamela) walked in to find Scout out of her pajamas, fortunately with diaper still intact, trying to dress herself for the day. All the clothes from her laundry basket were strewn about the floor. She had picked out the outfit she wore yesterday and was stuffing both legs into one leg hole, which is how she thinks they go. I'm sure this is the first of many independent explorations.

Potty Update

Not all posts will be Scout centric, it just so happens that she has a few more things going on in her day than her baby sister, Zoe.
Today at school, Scout woke from her nap and announced that she had to go pee pee on the potty. This is a first at school-she usually screams when they try to put her on it. So, they took her to the potty and she pooped! We don't really care that she's a little mixed up about what is what...that will come in time.

Zoe, on the other hand, is now a little too big for her swaddler, so she had a tough time sleeping for daddy today. When those little arms and legs are kicking and flailing (I hope I've spelled that right) it's hard to relax and fall asleep. We'd get her a bigger size, but now that she can roll a bit, it's not a good idea to keep swaddling, even though mommy and daddy would get a little more peace. Zoe went pee pee in her diaper, but that's about all we expect now. (-:
She asked that I mention she can now lift her rattle and post a photo showing her skills.

Scout is Brace Free!

Today we got the best possible news regarding Scout! She does not need surgery for her hip dysplasia and we can throw away the brace she has had to wear since she was six months old. To celebrate, we went out for ice cream after dinner. Scout did not want to eat the ice cream, but we finally broke her down. She had about 5 small bites of vanilla with rainbow sprinkles.
